The Rise of Vegan Milk
Research from scientific communities worldwide has shown that animal-based milk offers little to no benefits and is linked to rising chronic illnesses in developing countries. As more people wake up to these harsh realities, the demand for dairy alternatives is growing. What is Veganism?
Veganism isn’t new, but it's gaining popularity. So, what exactly is it? Veganism is a lifestyle that avoids using animals in any form. This means no meat, no dairy, and no products made from animal skin like leather. Vegans choose plant-based products to avoid exploiting animals and harming any living creatures. What is Vegan Milk?
Vegan milk is plant-based and dairy-free. It can be made from oats, soy, rice, almonds, hemp, or coconut, to name a few. Unlike cow's or buffalo's milk, vegan milk is cholesterol-free, lower in fat, and lactose-free, making it a great choice for those who are lactose intolerant. The Delicious Variety of Vegan Milk
Vegan milk comes in various flavors and is made from grains, millets, nuts, and more. You can choose according to your taste and nutritional needs, ensuring a balanced diet rich in fibers, minerals, and vitamins.Concerns with Dairy Milk and Benefits of Vegan Milk
Lactose Intolerance: Did you know that around 60-65% of Indians are lactose intolerant? Lactose is a natural sugar in dairy milk that many people can't digest, leading to diarrhea, gas, and bloating. Women with PCOS also often develop lactose intolerance due to hormonal imbalances. Vegan milk, which is lactose-free, offers a tasty and healthy alternative.Nutrition and Health: Animal-based milk contains hormones like estrogen and progesterone, which have been linked to cancer and early puberty in girls. Men consuming large amounts of dairy products are at higher risk of prostate cancer. Additionally, cows and buffaloes are often injected with hormones to increase milk production, leading to diseases that can be transmitted through their milk. Vegan milk, free from such risks, is a safer choice.
Environmental Impact: Dairy farming requires vast amounts of land, water, and resources. It contributes significantly to deforestation, water scarcity, and greenhouse gas emissions. Vegan milk production, on the other hand, uses fewer resources and is more sustainable, helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
Cruelty-Free: Dairy cows and buffaloes often end up in slaughterhouses once they can't produce milk anymore. Male calves are frequently killed for their meat. By choosing vegan milk, you stand against this cruelty and support the ethical treatment of animals.
Spiritual and Ethical Considerations: Following a vegan lifestyle aligns with the principles of non-violence and respect for all living beings, as advocated by spiritual leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and the Jain community.
